Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority hikes land acquisition rates

GREATER NOIDA: To appease farmers, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has hiked the compensation rate for land acquisition from Rs 1,093 per sqm to Rs 1,186 per sqm. The new rate, however, will be applicable only for land acquired on or after April 1. Officials said the hike has been implemented following farmers’ demands and increase in inflation rate.

The compensation rates for the remaining five districts under the Yamuna Expressway Development Authority have also been hiked by about 8.5%. Land under YEIDA falls in six districts – Gautam Budh Nagar, Aligarh, Bulandshahr, Mathura, Agra and Hathras – and compensation against land acquired in these districts has been hiked to Rs 1,186 per sqm, Rs 733 per sqm, Rs 1,186 per sqm, Rs 693 per sqm, Rs 745 per sqm and Rs 693 per sqm, respectively. The decision to implement the hike was approved by the Authority on Tuesday.

“The compensation offered to farmers in Yamuna Expressway area is the best amongst what is provided by other states. The annuity policy of UP government that provides rehabilitation benefits is also quite lucrative,” an official said.
